Putting one stroke after the other, we make an effort to move forward. One stroke at a time – land is in sight. We know we can get there, we just need to keep at it.
That was what I was trying to show in this colored pencil painting of a swimmer in the sea; every motion takes her forward even though she may still have a distance to go before reaching her goal. Unsteady waters give her no footing and uncertain weather hangs overhead. Yet, she continually strives for a place of greater stability, knowing it can be reached.
Persistence rewards us for our continual efforts, even when proceeding forward in the face of difficulty.
